CONTINUOUS ON-BUS SURVEYS
This report describes how the surveys are carried out, the information which they provide, and how well they meet the defined objectives: to provide regular statistics of passenger carryings in each of the executive's operating districts; to facilitate the allocation of revenue to districts, garages and routes; to enable accurate monitoring of the effects of fare increases and service revisions; to provide information on route loadings, origins and destinations of passengers, and to produce load factor and "value for money" indices; to monitor changes in the value of journeys made by travelcard holders, old age pensioners, etc; to enable the construction of models to simulate the effects of pursuing alternative strategies.
