FOUNDATIONS OF THE A 86 EXPRESSWAY STRUCTURES SOUTH OF PARIS
LES FONDATIONS DES OUVRAGES DE L'AUTOROUTE A 86 AU SUD DE
The paper discusses the justification for the design of three major structures and their construction as part of the A 86 expressway construction south of Paris. Geology of the terrain for road construction presents alluvium with gypsum formation under Ducy horizon. In these layers karstification and sediment dissolution is always present. To achieve stability and to save the foundation with the least cost, pile foundations were chosen. During construction work the foundation bearing capacities and soil stability were monitored and compared with design specifications. The results correspond to the design values.
