WHY LASH MAKES ECONOMIC SENSE
Barges with wide hatches are excellent for forest products which, with the added facility of being able to load at the mill and sometimes to discharge at the destination, means less transit damage. It is not necessary to load and discharge at high speeds, and deep water facilities are not required. The barges are well suited to other products. So, summarizing, the LASH vessel can hopefully, because of its size, give us some economies without penalties. It is a completely flexible system.
