OPTICAL MEASUREMENT OF THE CONTACT WIRE POSITION

With increasing schedule speeds, the electric energy transmission by overhead line installations has to meet higher demands. Deviations of the contact wire from the theoretical position reduce the quality of energy transmission and favor the wear especially of contact wire and pantograph wearing strip. The testing of the level and lateral position of the contact wire at the installations as well as during maintenance of the overhead line installations serves as a quality control technique. Contactless measurement of the contact wire position by optical installations is possible with a precision of 0.5 cm.
