TRANSPORT SYSTEM MANAGEMENT IN DUBLIN. 1. TOWARDS INTEGRATED TRANSPORTATION PLANNING

This is the first of a series of three papers designed to describe the evolution of transport system planning and management in Dublin, as an introduction, some of the city's transport problems are outlined and the development of transport system planning and co-ordination in the city through the 1970s and up to the present day is described. The paper identifies the contributions of Ireland's Transport Consultative Commission and the acceptance of the need for an overall transportation authority to promote the integrated planning, operation and management of the city's transport system.
