PUBLIC TRANSPORT ANALYSIS ON MICROCOMPUTERS. AN OVERVIEW

Microcomputers are having a significant impact on public transport analysis. Areas where examples of their application may be found include: data collection and analysis, information systems, route performance studies, ridership/revenue estimation, strategic studies, cost estimation, scheduling, maintenance/garaging, paratransit. This paper gives an overview of the use of microcomputers for these topics, illustrated by examples. The types of study for which microcomputers are appropriate are discussed, and the special role of generic software is described. For the covering abstract of the seminar see TRIS 453884.
