HIGH CAPACITY OF LORRY TRANSPORT
KUORMA-AUTOLIIKENTEESSA KAPASITEETTIA 2000-LUVULLE
There are about 53000 lorries in Finland, about 5100 semitrailers and about 14700 full trailers. The technical capacity, or the total carrying capacity, of this transport stock is about 700000 tons. At the end of 1973 the number of lorries was about 48700 units. The growth has been small, about 350 vehicles a year on the average. The total carrying capacity has grown by 70% and the volume of transport in ton kilometres has grown by 40%. If the trend continues today's lorry stock can satisfy the transport needs of the year 2000. (TRRL)
