This article discusses the use of robots in the glass industry. Most of the robots in use in the glass industry are "pick-and-place" mechanical arms which "man" stations in factory production or assembly lines. Specific examples of this type of robot use are cited. It is also pointed out that, although other car manufacturers are major robot users, only General Motors is currently using robots to install auto glass. Safety measures for workers around robots are also briefly discussed.
