SEMI-TRAINBORNE T.V. SYSTEM FOR DOUBLE-DECKER SUBURBAN SETS IN THE PARIS SUB-EST REGION
Since November 1983, the cabs of Z2N double-decker EMUs have been equipped with monitors enabling drivers to observe the platform-side of their trains. For this purpose, six cameras are installed along the platform. A video processing system reduces the number of carrier frequencies transmitted from six to three and the signals are picked up by receiving antenna mounted beneath the power car and displayed on the cab monitors which can be adjusted by the driver. Every precaution has been taken to mimimize the risk of total failure and to enable the driver to overcome a partial failure. This item appeared in French as No. 40708 in the September 1984 issue of this Review.
