At the initiative of the Ile-de-France regional council, the world's major cities discussed their problems and their future in Paris from 10 to 12 October 1984. Together with the report on these three days and a summary fo the discussions, which revolved around four themes (population movements, economic change, transport, living environmant), this special issue also includes a file of explanatory leaflets on the 19 large cities: Abidjan, Bangkok, Bombay, Buenos-Aires, Cairo, London, Los Ageles, Madrid, Mexico, Montreal, Moscow, New York, Osaka, Peking, Sao Paulo, Seoul, Sydney, Tokyo, Ile-de-France.
