SUBURBAN TRAINS USING THYRISTORS

The composition of suburban trains is presented from the viewpoint of utilization criteria which are prevalent in Switzerland in order to meet the requirements of public transportation in the suburbs on existing railroad networks. The possibility of achieving improved performance is considered. Modern electric equipment incorporating thyristors is described. The concept of electronic control and further extensions are discussed.
