SELF LOCKING CONCRETE BLOCK PAVEMENTS FOR THE HEAVY ABRASIVE LOADS OF TRACKED VEHICLES
PAVIMENTAZIONI IN MODULI AUTOBLOCCANTI IN CALCESTRUZZO PER CARICHI PESANTI ABRASIVI DA VEICOLI CINGOLATI
This paper describes the design and construction of self locking concrete block pavement for use by heavy tracked vehicles. Details are given of the various technical aspects and factors relative to this specific application, and of the technology employed. Separate paragraphs cover: preliminary considerations and test section; convenience correction factors; design of the pavement; typical cross section; quality requirements for the blocks and the sand; production of the blocks; quality control; construction procedures; and real load tests. This paper was presented at the International Conference on Road Surfacing of Self Locking Concrete Blocks, Trieste, 3031 March 1984. (TRRL)
