EXTERNALLY HEATED DRYER WITH THROWING-ACTION BLADES FOR VERY MOIST MATERIALS
EIN WURFSCHAUFELTROCKNER MIT AUSSENBEHEIZUNG FUER DIE TROCKNUNG VON HOCHFEUCHTEM, PLASTISCHEM GUT
Investigations on the drying of very moist materials of plastic consistency in a rapid dryer with the aid of kiln gases with a temperature of 350 degree C are reported. Despite its advantages, consisting chiefly in intensive material exchange and heat exchange and in the high degree of disintegration of the feed material, the dryer with throwing-action blades had hitherto not been suitable for the purpose because of excessive cooling of its walls. With external heating of the walls of the dryer at the inlet end with a diverted portion of the hot gas flow it becomes possible to dry coal slurry with 25 percent initial moisture to below 2 percent final moisture content.
