INTERNATIONAL STATISTICAL HANDBOOK OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT. VOLUMES I-III

This 3-volume survey of world-wide public transit operations includes descriptive and statistical information on all urban and regional agencies. Section I is preceded by some summary statistics, definitions and chronology. Section I covers the rapid transit and light rail transit services and is divided into 4 parts: (1) Information on all rapid transit (metro) railways with facing pages incorporating data on the city and operating agencies so characteristics of each city's system can be quickly determined; (2) Characteristics of rapid transit systems currently being built or planned; (3) Information on cities with light rail transit (LRT); (4) Characteristics of light rail transit systems currently being built or planned. Section II is a summary of system characteristics of those cities having multimodal surface transport. For each city there is a separate review of each mode within the system with particular attention to buses, trolley buses and streetcars (trams). When there are other modes such as ferries, inclines, funiculars or fixed-route taxis, that information is also included. Section III has information on city bus systems where that is the only public transit mode.
