INFORMATION THEORY APPROACHES TO NAVIGATION II--A NAVIGATION SYSTEM MODEL
This paper deals with the underlying philosophy of navigation procedures. The philosophy is based on information theory and introduces the concept of entropy as a measure of randomness and its reduction through the work performed by the navigator. A navigation model is presented in which the position of the vessel is treated as the source of information which is collected and processed in any navigation system.
