INFORMATION THEORY APPROACHES TO NAVIGATION - 1--A PROSPECT OF NAVIGATION

This paper deals with the underlying philosophy of navigation procedures. The philosophy is based on information theory and introduces the concept of entropy as a measure of randomness and its reduction through the work performed by the navigator. The basic concepts are applied to the problems of traffic control.
