SAUDI ARABIA-BAHRAIN CAUSEWAY
A brief description is given of the two countries (Saudi Arabia and Bahrain), and the feasibility study, design and construction are detailed of a 25 km long 4-lane causeway consisting of bridges and embankments, about 50 km of approach roads in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, and a border station. The various chapters of this book describe the following: feasiblity study and design, philosophy of the alternative bridge design, management aspects, soil investigation and evaluation, structural design of the bridge, full-scale test of the halving joing, materials and durability, temporary sanddam with access road, prefabrication of bridges, offshore construction of bridges, design and construction of the embankments, quality control/quality assurance, survey systems, finishings, human resources, and homeland aspects.
