CONTROLLING VEHICLE SPEEDS ON LOCAL STREETS

Speed control on residential streets has emerged as an important concern in local area traffic management, and a variety of measures and control devices have been proposed. This paper considers the formal concepts of 'speed control', and proposes two mathematical models which may be useful in the selection and design of control strategies. An experimental program is under way to provide data to test the models. (Author/TRRL)
