BIRTH PAINS OF A BIKEWAY PROGRAM
Legislative activity related to bikeways and bicycle usage is reviewed, and bikeway planning criteria and guidelines are examined. Reference is made to publications providing information in this area. A circular letter is discussed which outlines state legislation, sets forth policy on the accommodation of nonmotorized traffic, and establishes a basic typical cross section for a bikeway. Comments are made regarding the problem of bicycle theft.
