REFLECTION FACTORS OF CUT EDGES IN WEARING COURSES

REFLEKTIONSFAKTORER AF SNITFLADER I SLIDLAG

The most important reflection parameter of road surfaces on roads with fixed road lighting is the average luminance coefficient for the angle of observation of 1 degree. The lightness of the stone aggregates of the surface is a decisive factor for this parameter. The content of artificial bright stones in asphaltic surfaces has so far been expressed as a percentage by weight as determined after visual separation. This report describes the experimental results obtained in a development of an apparatus for the measurement of a luminance factor of cuts in cylindrical test bodies. It is concluded, that a test method based on the apparatus can advantageously replace the test method which has so far been used for the evaluation of the content of artificial bright stones in asphaltic surfaces.
