GEORGIA'S NEW NO-FAULT AUTO INSURANCE LAW
The Georgia Motor Vehicle Accident Reparations Act (GMVARA), which was signed into law on February 28,1974, makes Georgia one of approximately 15 states that have adopted the no-fault insurance approach to the solution of problems of the tort liability system. Georgia's new no-fault automobile insurance law will significantly change the way in which individuals injured in auto accidents are compensated for their injuries. It will take several years of experience to determine the full impact of these changes and to assess the relative merits and deficiencies of this legislation. For the motorist to avoid uncompensated economic losses resulting from bodily injury, he should be certain to obtain Personal Injury Protection benefits, in coordination with other benefits, that meet his needs.
