TRANSPORT IN LONDON. 5TH REPORT FROM THE TRANSPORT COMMITTEE SESSION 1981-82, TOGETHER WITH THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE, MINUTES OF EVIDENCE AND APPENDICES. VOLUME 1

This report describes and assesses the main problems confronting London's transport system, identifies problems which should be the subject of priority actions by the public authorities concerned, and examines and considers changes in the policy-making, financing, legislative and organisational arrangements which are the main direct responsibilities of Parliament in this field. Much of the historical and descriptive supporting material is found in the appendices as follows: movement of people and goods in London (Appendix A), organisation and financing of transport in London (Appendix B), share of public expenditure on roads and public transport taken by London and the south-east (Appendix C), and road proposals for London (Appendix D).
