THE PROFIT IN SAFETY BELTS: GUIDELINES FOR CONDUCTING EMPLOYERS SAFETY BELT WORKSHOPS
Companies are in a unique position to positively influence the attitudes and safety belt usage behavior of their employees. Positive employer programs have been tested and proven to be effective in numerous companies throughout the nation. Considerable cost savings have resulted from the implementation and continuing operation of these programs. Procedures have been established for getting started. This Guide takes the next step by establishing guidelines and procedures for introducing these programs and materials to Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and Safety Directors of companies through workshops conducted within counties and major population centers throughout the United States. The objective of this Guide is to provide for the planning, organization and implementation of occupant protection workshops for companies/employers. The three main objectives to be accomplished in these workshops are: (1) stimulating programs that promote safety belt use for employees and their families; (2) providing information on the safety potential of automatic restraint equipped cars for company fleets; and (3) promoting safety belt use laws.
