SAVE ENERGY BY CAMPING - FACT OR FICTIONS?

As a results of an advertising plug promoting camping as a weapon in combatting the waste of energy, a realistic appraisal of this suggestion was made. Since transportation to the camping site is essential, with other driving for sightseeing, etc. likely, the energy saved by not using home appliances is cancelled out. A hypothetical situation is described, taking into consideration all possible means of cutting back on energy usage by leaving a vacant house. However, the realistic approach proves that both camping and living at home require equal amounts of energy. A chart gives the relationship between number of miles travelled, and energy consumed in the home in terms of BTU's. The article concludes that since vactioning and staying at home are on an equal footing in regard to energy usage, the merits attached to camping are in the realm of personal considerations.
