STUDY OF THE RESISTANCE TO FROST OF EXPANDED CLAY CONCRETE HARDENED UNDER DIFFERENT CONDITIONS
ISSLEDOVANIE MOROZOSTOJKOSTI KERAMIZITOBETOHA, TVERDEVSHEGO V RAZNJIKH VSOLVYAKH
CONCRETE CUBE SAMPLES 15 X 15 X 15 CM CONTAINING KERAMSITE (EXPANDED CLAY) WERE SUBJECTED TO FREEZING - THAWING CYCLES. THE SAMPLES WERE DIVIDED INTO THREE BATCHES: THE FIRST WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO ANY THERMAL TREATMENT AND HARDENED UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS; THE SECOND WAS STEAM-CURED AT 90 DEGREES C FOR NINE HOURS BEFORE HARDENING; THE THIRD WAS SUBJECTED TO THERMAL TREATMENT WITH A HEAT-RADIATING ELECTROINDUCTOR AT 140 DEGREES C FOR THREE HOURS. THE STRENGTH OBTAINED WAS VERY SIMILAR FOR THE THREE BATCHES. HOWEVER A SLIGHT INCREASE IN STRENGTH WAS OBSERVED IN THE THIRD BATCH; THIS COULD BE EXPLAINED BY THE PROLONGATION OF CEMENT HYDRATION DURING THE THAWING CYCLE.
