EFFECT OF UNDERSTRESSING ON THE DEFORMATION AND STRENGTH OF PLAIN CONCRETE IN COMPRESSION
The work presented in this paper is part of a research investigation undertaken to study the deformational characteristics of plain concrete under repeated compressive loads. Fatigue tests conducted on prismatic specimens at maximum stress levels ranging from 30 to 50 percent of the static ultimate strength are described. A quantitative study is presented of the nature of changes in the modulus of elasticity, stress-strain behaviour, elastic and inelastic strains and static strength as influenced by repeated loading.
