EXPRESION ANALITICA GENERALIZADA DE LA TEORIA DE MOHR - COULOMB - RANKINE
THE USE OF LINEAR EQUATIONS FROM THE MOHR-COULOMB THEORY MAY LEAD TO IMPORTANT ERRORS IN THE STATISTICAL INTERPRETATION OF THE RESULTS FROM TRIAXIAL COMPRESSION TESTS AND DIRECT SHEAR TESTS ON CONCRETE, ROCK, GRAVEL, ROCK-FILL, ETC. TO PREVENT SUCH ERRORS, IT IS SUGGESTED TO USE A MORE GENERAL MOHR CURVE, GIVEN BY A SECOND DEGREE EQUATION WHICH CAN BE DEFINED THROUGH 3 CHARACTERISTIC PARAMETERS: SHEAR STRENGTH FOR NORMAL STRESS, INITIAL SHEARING RESISTANCE ANGLE (TANGENT TO THE CURVE AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH THE TANGENTIAL STRESS AXIS), AND MAXIMUM TENSILE STRESS. THE PAPER DESCRIBES THE WAY OF OBTAINING THE GENERAL MOHR CURVE AS DEFINED ABOVE, FROM THE RESULTS OF TRIAXIAL TESTS AT LOW PRESSURES BY MEANS OF AN AUXILIARY REFERENCE CURVE, AND FROM THE RESULTS OF SIMPLE COMPRESSION AND TENSILE TESTS.
