COMPARATIVE STANDARD TESTS OF CEMENT IN NORDIC COUNTRIES

The Cemand and Concrete Laboratory, Malmoe, Sweden, has organised comparative strength tests on cement carried out in accordance with the ISO recommendation R 679. This recommendation is used as a national standard in Norway and Sweden and it will be adopted in Denmark and Finland in the course of the year 1973. The tests were made in 16 laboratories in the countries mentioned. The results obtained from these tests up to the present time indicate that the compaction of the prism specimens produces a very marked effect on the strength of the cement. Because of certain differences in the test procedures between the countries, the results had minor deviations. The laboratories used standard sand of different origin. Official testing institutes are authoritative in cases of dispute about cement quality. It is therefore required that they participate in regular comparative tests. /TRRL/
