SHIFTING THE EMPHASIS IN ENGINEERING EDUCATION
The author expresses concern about the relation of engineering education to the institutional and cultural barriers that prohibit consideration by engineers of nonfacility solutions to public problems. It is suggested that engineering educations must help students relate their technical knowledge to large political and social realities.
