MULTIDISCIPLINARY EDUCATION IN TRANSPORTATION. CONFERENCE SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS

A summary is given of the conclusions drawn in papers presented during the Conference on Multidisciplinary Education in Transportation. The general conclusions are: that the field of transportation has fostered a new profession and discipline; that transportation education has not yet reached a level of fruition; agreement has not yet been reached on the goals and objectives; that the two branches of transportation - engineering and social sciences - must attain more harmony if multidisciplinary education in this field is to work; that transportation educators must work towards an integration of their program into a university structure.
