MARYLAND D.O.T. BIKEWAYS PROVE POPULAR
Studies are underway in the state of Maryland to make statewide bicycle routes that are safe for cyclists and motorists. This article describes demonstration projects that were undertaken in line with these studies. One project involved utilization of land not attached to the shoulder or roadway in any manner, while two others involved bikeway projects constructed on highway shoulders, one on newly constructed shoulders and the other on existing shoulders.
