ALTERATION OF ASPHALTS DURING MIXING
ENVEJECIMIENTO DE ASFALTOS DURANTE EL MEZCLADO
This paper describes laboratory tests on the alteration of asphaltic cement that occurs during the manufacture of paving mixtures at the mixing stage. The bituminous mixtures were prepared in a laboratory mixer under controlled conditions (time and temperature). The asphalt under test recovered by means of the Abson method. The alteration was studied by measuring the viscosity with the sliding plate microviscometer and by infra red spectra. A study of the action of oxidation inhibitors was also carried out to determine the effectiveness and the mechanism of oxidation inhibiting agents. /TRRL/
