INTEREST CENTRES ON INVISIBLE CAR PARK
This article describes the construction of the 250000 30m deep diaphragm wall for the members' of Parliament underground car park in London. Bentonite slurry was used for the operation and tests confirmed that the concentration of fulbent 570 bentonite slurry in the ground was below danger level to plants. The building research establishment is monitoring settlements and installing inclinometers in walls. Observations will also be made of ground-heave on the bottom of excavations and changes in pore water pressure in the ground. /TRRL/
