DYNAMIC SHEAR MODULUS AND PERMANENT SHEAR STRENGTH OF BITUMINOUS MATERIALS
The research investigates the influence of shear on the state of stress in bituminous pavements. A machine was developed at the Technical University of Munich which enables material constants to be determined; by means of this machine a study of core samples was able to be carried out. The results of the tests are illustrated by suitable functions for which the correlation coefficient and confidence limit are established. The tests show the influence of loading time, temperature, voids content, particle shape and thickness of the surfacing on the stress, and the main shear stress in the three layer system is determined. The errors in the tests were less than 5 percent. /TRRL/
