SCALE EFFECT IN SIMPLE COMPRESSION IN THE CASE OF GRANITE
L'EFFET D'ECHELLE EN COMPRESSION SIMPLE DANS LE CAS DES GRANITES
An inverted scale effect can be observed in some rocks. This effect is explained by the existence of a surface effect which varies according to the dimensions of the samples. The use of tubular samples of a constant thickness eliminates the surface effect and facilitates the appearance of a normal scale effect. This explains the existence and origin of the surface effect quite clearly. /IRRD/
