EVALUATION IN THE DRINKING/DRIVING COUNTERMEASURES PROGRAM
The author comments on a series of papers evaluating the drinking/driving countermeasures program developed by DOT. The ASAP program is discussed, as are mandatory blood alcohol laws. Pretrial examination, separation of the problem drinker from the casual, ignorant or criminal drinker and appropriate education, penalty or treatment are considered. Some solutions such as increasing sign brightness are put forth.
