ULTRA-VIOLET RAY DETERIORATION OF PETROLEUM ASPHALT-CHEMICAL CHANGES BY EXPOSURE TO ULTRA-VIOLET RAY
This study deals with the chemical changes produced in asphalt by exposure to ultraviolet rays. Laboratory tests on straight run samples carried out with the aid of carbon arc lamps are described, and details are given of resulting changes in the appearance, weight, proportion of chemical constituents, infra-red absorption spectra, and molecular weight of the asphalts tested. /TRRL/
