LAYERED SYSTEM ANALYSIS FOR VARYING VALUES OF POISSON RATIO
The paper extends the basic settlement equation of Burminster's layered system theory to cover any value of Poisson's ratio in a two layered system, such as a flexible pavement. Numerical results and basic influence curves were prepared for fifteen values of Poisson's ratio and twenty values of strength ratio. Laboratory tests were carried out to determine the values of the elastic constants of pavement materials, and variations in those under different lateral confining pressures were studied. /TRRL/
