INFLUENCE OF TEXTURE PARAMETERS ON THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF GRANITE
ZUM EINFLUSS EINIGER GEFUEFEPARAMETER AUF DIE WURFELDRUCKFESTIGKEIT DER GRANITE
A number of parameters concerning the structure of rocks mentioned: surface density and bulk density; the surface density between two phases (contact surface between two phases per unit of volume) is determined. A method is given for determining these parameters during the linear analysis of thin rock layers. A study is made of the single compressive cube strength of various types of granite. Results show that single compressive strength increases with surface density between grains of different nature, but the same relation does not exist when grains are of similar nature. It was also found that the strength of the rock decreases with an increase in the average size of the grains. These results emphasize the importance of the quantitities description of the petrographic texture and its relation the physical characteristics of the rocks.
