THE EXPANSION OF CEMENT AND METHODS OF DETERMINATION

SOBRE LA EXPANSIONDE LOS CEMENTOS Y LOS METODOS PARA SU DETERMINACION.

This aim of this study, the sub-title of which is "Logical Limits of the Field of Application and Validity of the Results of Expansion Tests on Cement in Steam-Curing Cabinets", was to investigate cement specifications and test methods with regard to expansion and its effects. Attention is drawn to the fact that cement expansion tests in steam-curing cabinets should only be carried out on blast-furnace slag cement or pozzolan cement. For other types of cement, far more rigid expansion criteria must be used. Mention is made of the long-standing Le Chatelier method which can be subsituted for the expansion test on steam-curing cabinets. /TRRL/
