EMULSION-GRAVEL MIXTURES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND STRENGTHENING OF PAVEMENTS
LES GRAVES-EMULSION DANS LA CONSTRUCTION ET LE RENFORCEMENT DES CHAUSSEES
This article outlines the history of the gravel-emulsion process in France. A study is made of the behaviour of a gravel-emulsion roadease, and results obtained in the laboratory are presented. Ingredient characteristics needed are reviewed and details are given of proportioning, manufacture and application of the mixture on the construction site. Special attention is drawn to (1) the moisture content and (2) compaction. The various uses of gravel-emulsion mixtures are mentioned. /TRRL/
