RECONSTRUCTION OF THE ALMA BRIDGE. CONSTRUCTION OF THE ACCESS ROADS

LA RECONSTRUCTION DU PONT DE L'ALMA. LES TRAVAUX L'AMENAGEMENT DES ACCES

This article outlines the history of the bridge and the needs for reconstruction. Details are given of the characteristics of the new bridge: horizontal alignment, longitudinal profile, exploratory boring, selection of the type of structure, execution of the works (bridge bearings, abutments and piers in the river), bridge deck, services, planning of the work, and quantities of materials used. The access to the bridge on the right and left banks is described in particular the work caused by the widening and raising of the bridge, the latter resulting in the two-stage raising and resurfacing of the place de la resistance, raising of the expressway on the side of the river, new covering for the railway track, and ancillary works.
