MECHANISM FOR STREAMFLOW MEANDERING
The mechanisms of meandering are reckoned to depend on the vorticity of the flow and the erodibility of the channel. A theoretical model is used to calculate meander shapes resulting from various assumed values of the controlling mechanisms. These results are compared with some of the known meander characteristics and the implications for sediment transport and meander development are considered.
