LIMESTONE AGGREGATES IN CONCRETE
AGREGATELE CALCARAASE IN BETOANE
Because of their degree of metamorphism and the nature of the cement with which they are mixed, limestone aggregates react as active admixtures. The activity of the limestone is facilitated by the hydraulic modulus of the cement, e.g. the basicity of the aqueous phase of the cement paste. The higher the cement modulus, the more active the limestone becomes. Another factor influencing the activity of the limestone is the aluminate content of the cement. The action of the limestone improves the mechanical properties of mortar and concrete, and decreases drying shrinkage.
