ECONOMICAL RANGE OF HATCH COVERS FROM MITSUBISHI

Mitsubishis double-folding weatherdeck and hinge-up tweendeck covers are designed for economic series production, a competitive price and speedy operation. The weatherdeck design consists of four hinged panels and appropriate blocks. In operation, the ships winches or cranes are employed to pull a wire cable to lift and fold the covers which are then rolled open in the direction of the main hinge at the end of the hatch opening. Closing the hatch is an equally simple operation. Metal gaskets between panels are automatically compressed when the panels are laid out over the hatch and keep the panels aligned with each other, thus eliminating any need to fasten the panels to one another. The tweendecks design is suited not only for loading general cargo but also for a wide variety of cargoes such as grain in bulk and long items. It consists of four panels and a set of king beams and serves the double purpose of acting as a feeder for loading grain in bulk. For loading long items, the king beam can be removed.
