EROSION PROTECTION BY MEANS OF PLANTING DURING THE BUILDING OF NEW MOTORWAYS
EROSIONSSICHERUNG DURCH PFLANZLICHE MITTEL BEIM AUTOBAHNNEUBAU
The author describes methods of preventing surface distrubance on embankments and cuttings by planting suitable vegetation. The author discusses in detail special factors relating to the use of plants, and the blending of the highway structure into its surroundings. Results obtained so far are very good. Under given conditions they represent a biological, technical and economic optimum. The objective of all-round protection against erosion is achieved in those places where the planting of the vegetation takes place immediately after the completion of the earthworks. /TRRL/
