The author gives details of the development of full-depth asphalt construction in the USA, and refers particularly to differences between the USA and Germany, both in materials used and design which varies by region. A description is given of placement technology developed in the USA, particularly for thick layers. Conclusions are drawn regarding application in Germany from the experimental roads and experience gained. /TRRL/
