MODULUS AND POISSON'S RATIO OF BITUMINOUS MIXTURES
MODULE ET COEFFICIENT DE POISSON DES ENROBES BITUMINEUX
The authors discuss the stress/strain relation of bituminous mixtures and emphasize the necessity of defining two other parameters: modulus of rigidity and generalized Poisson's ratio if the above relation is to be fully described. These characteristics correspond to the modulus of longitudinal elasticity of Young modulus and Poisson's ratio of elastic materials respectively. Those two factors can be indirectly determined by combining the results of tensile and compression tests. A new interpretation of the angle of internal friction measured by means of the triaxial test is proposed.
