STRENGTH OF THE SHAFT OF A BORED PILE
RASCHET NA PROCHNOST' STVOLA BURONABIVNYKH SVAJ
Details are given of a process of restraining unstable soil masses by means of bored piles. Formulae are derived for the design of the shaft when the pile is subjected to flexural stresses. The section of the pile is circular and the main reinforcement can be distributed in any way in the pile. A graph shows the zone of compression, and limits of application of the formulae are defined. This appeared in an English version in soil mechanics and foundation engineering (trad. rev. soviet) in October 1971, under the title: "Calculation of the Strength of the Stem of Bored Piles."
