COMPARISON OF SOME VANE TEST RESULTS AND CORRESPONDING RESISTANCES TO THE CONE MEASURED IN PENETRATION TESTS.

Approximately twenty vane tests were carried out simultaneously with static penetration tests in low-strength soil layers. Results showed that the theoretical relation generally accepted C(K,A)=(NC) (CY), where C(K,D) is the end-bearing resistance, CY the apparent cohension and NC a coefficient, is justified as long as the end-bearing resistance is between 8 to 16KG/CM. SQ., in this case the value of NC is 15. For lower values of C(K,A), no correlation could be established. Several hypotheses are put forward to explain this fact.
